Draw A Circle and Fill It With Red //

To the stranger I never found

Installation, documentation, acrylic on canvas, Size Variable, 2018-2019

"Draw A Circle and Fill It With Red" is a romantic social interactive series. This series is motivated by the kapok flowers and a peculiar encounter to study the meaning of actions: waiting and seeking.

On a peaceful afternoon in 2018, I imitated how people dry kapok flowers to make Chinese medicine. I only finished half of it and left. The next day, I found out that a stranger helped her to complete the task. Then ever since, I kept trying different ways to find the person. Through the lengthy art creation process, I questioned: what is the connection between people? Is it possible to develop a relationship with the unknown?
