About Have You Eaten?
After settling on an isolated plot of land in Bierum, two fictional East Asian farmers venture to the local farmers’ market with a few new friends. Together, they set up a stand where they prepare one of Taiwan’s most beloved foods: 芋圓 (taro balls). The audience receives a serving in return for sharing stories, practical tips, or other local knowledge about Frisian farming. Traditionally made with taro, sweet potato, and tapioca starch, tonight’s recipe has been reimagined using Dutch ingredients and takes inspiration from Italian gnocchi. Guests are also warmly invited to join the food preparation and the conversations.
This live performance continues the story from the short film "Are You Home?", which explores what it means to adapt to a new environment. Here, at the Museum Night, a sense of belonging is pursued through people. How do we adapt to each other?
